Essentia is a landscape design studio based in the south of Mexico. Tasked with creating a total overhaul of their brand, we aimed to create a brand that showed its dual nature: the wild, raw essence of nature, and the fundamental core and soul of design, which is the creative spirit.

Because of this duality, we created two logotypes, made to play one off another and serve different functions. One is a clean, geometric sans serif, while the other is a raw, hand drawn wordmark. We also created an icon to work alongside the logotypes, an ink brushstroke of a circle, inspired off of The Creative Act by Rick Rubin. Our aim was to present creativity in its most fundamental, basic state in stark black and white, and for this to be shown alongside the ever shifting and beautiful nature. This creates a brand that is artistic by nature, while maintaining string hierarchies and distinctive and immediately recognizable elements.
